The DCO is tasked with creating, updating and maintaining standard clinic protocols, assisting the Compliance/Legal department in ensuring 100% clinical compliance and uniformity of clinical decision making across the portfolio of offices, staying current with clinical best practices, rules, and regulations and is the trusted source of truth for all clinical operations. Job Summary:The Director of Clinical Operations (DCO) is a key, executive level role in the organization that is central to the success of the entire company. Responsibilities
- Serves as the company expert on all issues relating to clinical policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the overall execution of uniform clinical processes and office standardization.
- Responsibilities include assisting Regional Practice Administrators in selection of clinical employees (when necessary) helping to select candidates that align with company culture and values.
- Maintains current knowledge of clinical and regulatory guidelines, best practices and current trends through continuing education and research.
- Assists Compliance/Legal in creating, distributing and maintaining a working draft of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual with assistance from COO, physician leadership and office management.
- Creates, distributes and maintains a working draft training manual for clinical positions (i.e. Medical Assistants, Midlevel providers, MD’s, Rad Tech and Lab Technicians.) with the assistance of Regional Practice Administrators, COO, physician leadership and office management. Assists CBO Practice Administrator in MIPS/MACRA quality reporting
- Assist in launching new procedure offerings (i.e kyphoplasty, regenerative medicine etc)
- Collaborate with revenue cycle management team to communicate medical policy, provider documentation issues etc to staff.
- Regularly communicates chief concerns, policy changes and future needs to COO and physician leadership.
- Regularly audits medical supply purchases across all offices for compatibility, cost saving measures and usage efficiency.
- Assigns and allocates resources as required to ensure standards are achieved and maintained.
- Operates in a liaison capacity with the field operations and outside vendors, partners et all often travelling to multiple locations to consult, train, assist and foster a healthy teamwork environment.
- From time to time, assist others in execution of launching new practice locations throughout the service area.
- Handles certain external inquiries such as audits, surveys etc.
- Creates and maintains a clinical research platform. Select and manage certain research and clinical trials to be determined.
- Duties performed for affiliates, assigns, lessees, contractors or other third parties

Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years in clinical operations multi-site leadership.
- Ability to travel to the locations within the assigned region
- Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and problem solving
- Strong leadership skills with an ability to communicate with others.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple assignments concurrently
- Athenahealth EMR experience preferred.
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook experience, required.
- Exercises professional judgment and sound decision making.
- Vast knowledge in medical policy, standard operating procedures, clinical workflow necessary.
- Pain management experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, equivalent training or experience may be considered
